Oliver joined the Leeds office as a Planner in March 2018 from Kirklees Council. He was then promoted to Senior Planner in October 2019 and Principal Planner in January 2022.
Over his 6 years with DPP Oliver have been involved in a wide variety of projects spanning numerous sectors and geographical locations. These include the redevelopment of The Core Shopping Centre in Leeds, which will be one of the largest developments in the city centre in nearly a decade, a major urban extension to the town of Howden in East Yorkshire, and successfully gained planning permission for the first co-living development in Leeds, at Burley Library.
Oliver is currently working on major education redevelopment projects across the country, delivering new and replacement schools in locations including Barnsley, Bradford, Penwortham, Wisbech, Swaffham and Stoke-on-Trent. He is also leading on diverse projects such as the regeneration of the Rheola Estate in the Neath Valley, South Wales, which includes three Grade II listed buildings and a Registered Park and Garden designed by renowned architects John Nash and George Stanley Repton, and he is leading on a hybrid planning application for the mixed-use redevelopment of the historic Corah Works site in the centre of Leicester.
Within DPP, Oliver has led on the development and refinement of the company’s internal organisational processes, provided key support in the production and delivery of internal training sessions, and supporting colleagues in the expansion of DPP’s services in the Urban Living, Education and Healthcare sectors with a particular focus on the North West region. Oliver has also mentored a number of staff in the Leeds office to successfully achieve their RTPI Chartered membership.
Oliver’s interest in planning and urban regeneration also extends beyond DPP – in his spare time he sits on the fft Leeds committee, the young professional’s branch of the fbe Leeds construction industry networking group, in which he organises various networking and CPD events throughout the year. He has also done voluntary work with Leeds Civic Trust, photographing key sites in Leeds’ South Bank regeneration area which were exhibited at the Trust’s ‘The Promised Land’ exhibition, held during UKREiiF in May 2024.
