DPP has been shortlisted for Consultancy of the Year at the Property Week Student Housing Awards.
DPP continues to shape the future of student accommodation across the UK, having secured planning consent for over 8,500 student bed spaces in the past five years, with an additional 2,500 currently at application stage.
With our extensive experience in Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), DPP guide developers, investors, and educational institutions through the planning process with a proactive approach. The consultancy’s client portfolio includes major players such as Olympian Homes, Fusion Group, Tri-7, Galliford Try Investments, Summix, Abodus, YPP, Greystar, Vita Students, and The Cassidy Group, as well as leading universities including the University of Leeds, Durham University, and Cardiff University.
Recent successes include Fusion Group’s 807-bed Garnet Exchange in Leeds, a transformative redevelopment of The Core shopping centre. DPP led early engagement with senior planning officers to justify the loss of retail space, securing unanimous approval from Leeds City Council’s Plans Panel. The scheme has been widely celebrated in the press and across social media for its regeneration potential.
DPP also secured planning for Cirrus Point, Olympian Homes’ 705-bed development in Leeds, which will become the tallest standalone PBSA building in the World at 45 storeys. In Newcastle, DPP continue to support Vita Students in delivering a 260-bed scheme at Leazes Park Road as well as seeking consent for Nixon Homes in their 813-bed student and co-living scheme at Heavitree Road, Exeter.
Speaking about the shortlisting, David Smith, Head of Urban Living at DPP commented:
“We our delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award. Our deep understanding of the student housing and education sectors, combined with local political insight, enables us to deliver robust planning strategies even in the most challenging circumstances,”
