City Centre PRS

Value

£40m

Hadrian’s Tower, Newcastle

On behalf of Stonegate Developments Ltd, DPP submitted a planning application to Newcastle City Council for the demolition of an existing derelict warehouse and the construction of 162 residential units. The proposed 162 residential units will be an institutionally managed PRS scheme. The site is located within Newcastle City Centre, close to the city’s main shops and services.  The proposal is 26 storeys and the first ‘tall building’ in Newcastle which will act as a key gateway and a beacon of economic investment.

DPP successfully coordinated the planning application process, through preparation and submission of the planning application within a tight timescale. Prior to submitting, the application process involved extensive pre-application discussions with the LPA and statutory consultees including Historic England as well as undertaking public consultation with the local community and key stakeholders.

Due to the site’s location within Newcastle’s Central Conservation Area and its proximity to listed buildings, DPP prepared (with technical input from other consultants), and managed an Environmental Impact Assessment to support the application. The application was approved in May 2017.

DPP co-ordinated a unique project which, once constructed, will significantly contribute to housing supply within the Private Rented Sector in Newcastle.
