In Education, Newcastle, Permission secured

On behalf of Morgan Sindall (acting on behalf of the Department for Education), DPP have secured reserved matters approval for the development of Callerton Academy, a new secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Designed by Space Architects, the new, state of the art secondary school will help ease the demand on schools in Newcastle.

DPP liaised with the LPA during the determination of the application to ensure a prompt decision, in line with the project timescales. This included undertaking pre-application meetings and discussing consultee responses before reaching an approval via a delegated decision.

Speaking about the consent, Tony Huntrod, Senior Design Manager at Morgan Sindall said

This is a fantastic result for the team and the local community. We are excited to be working with the DfE on this project and the speed in which we managed to reach a positive conclusion is a testament to collaborative working from all stakeholders. Callerton Academy is a major part of Morgan Sindall’s growth in the North East & Cumbria region and is one of several exciting projects that we will deliver in 2024.
