DPP are delighted to have supported Optimum Padel Limited in securing planning permission for a new state-of-the-art padel tennis facility at Cross Green Industrial Estate in Leeds.

The project, which is the first UK site being brought forward by Optimum Padel and designed by Bowman Riley Architects, will bring a long-vacant industrial unit back into productive use, creating a modern facility close to Leeds city centre that will serve East Leeds, the city centre and surrounding communities.

The 89,000 sq ft industrial unit will be converted into a dedicated padel facility, delivering eight high-quality indoor padel courts, alongside a café and seating area, changing rooms, toilets and secure cycle storage. The development will provide a significant new recreational offer in the area, supporting local economic activity and encouraging more people to lead active lifestyles.

DPP’s Sequential and Impact Assessment demonstrated that the proposed leisure use is appropriate for the site and will not have any adverse impacts on Leeds’ established centres, helping the local planning authority reach a positive decision.

Jack Paine, Senior Planner said

Our work demonstrated the suitability of the proposal and its compatibility with the wider town centre hierarchy. This approval reflects DPP’s growing expertise in padel and leisure developments. We look forward to seeing and playing at the facility once it opens.
