In Newcastle, Retail & Town Centres

DPP has secured planning permission for a new retail development comprising one retail unit and one drive-thru retail unit, along with EV charging facilities at Lintonville Parkway, Ashington. Designed by Ellis Healey, the development will provide new retail space for Greggs and Costa Coffee.

The proposal will bring a long-standing vacant site into viable use, enhancing consumer choice, as well as visually enhancing the site. The proposal will also result in job creation both during the construction phase and once operational.

DPP were required to prepare a Sequential Assessment to demonstrate there were no alternative available and suitable sites in Ashington town centre to accommodate the development and DPP has engaged with Northumberland County Council throughout the planning application process and successfully achieved planning permission in May 2025.

Nicola Crowley, Principal Planner at DPP said:

We are pleased to secure consent for the redevelopment of this vacant site and look forward to working with Almscliffe Dhesi Developments (Ashington) Ltd and the wider team to support the delivery of this new retail scheme.
