Principal Planner

Nicola joined DPP’s Newcastle Office in 2015 after completing a Masters in Town and Country Planning at Newcastle University and has been a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute since 2017.

Nicola has significant experience of managing complex planning applications for clients in both the private and public sector and across a range of development sectors including leisure, commercial, education, residential, retail, mixed-use, and infrastructure from conception through to decision and post submission aftercare work. Nicola is responsible for the day-to-day project management of planning applications, including; pre-application discussions, co-ordination of technical teams, preparation and submission of planning applications, co-ordination of public consultation and liaison with Council officers.

Nicola has successfully secured numerous permissions for public sector clients including; Morpeth Leisure Centre, Berwick Leisure Centre, Sunderland Culture House, Seaton Valley School and the Aykley Heads business park masterplan. Nicola has also worked with a range of private sector clients on key urban regeneration projects including; Brett Wharf in Gateshead, Milburngate in Durham.

Nicola has a strong local knowledge of the North East and good working relationships with planning officers at the North East Planning Authorities.

Within DPP Nicola has also mentored a number of staff in the Newcastle office to achieve their RTPI Chartered Membership and has been part of the North East judging panel for the regional North East RTPI Awards.
