Project Description

Change of Use Landmark Building

Value

£8m

Metrovick House, Newcastle

Working on behalf of S Harrison Group Ltd, DPP secured planning permission for a change of use in Newcastle City Centre. Metrovick House, previously an office and non-residential institution use, was granted permission within 8 weeks for the use of the building for residential use (Class A3) to be occupied by a student studio accommodation scheme, containing 63 units. Implementation of the scheme will see the reuse of a vacant building to meet growing demand for student accommodation in Newcastle.

Working to a tight timescale, DPP coordinated the planning application process which involved the preparation and submission of two planning applications under a tight timescale, pre-application meetings and discussions with the LPA and overseeing the application through to decision.

Situated at the far eastern end of Northumberland Road, in the core of the city, the scheme is within the vicinity of one of the city’s most vibrant shopping locations and located close to both Newcastle and Northumbria Universities.
