DPP, as Masterplanners for Durham University, was appointed to prepare a full planning application for a new Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science building on land at Upper Mountjoy, Durham.

The site is within the settlement boundary and is designated in the adopted local plan for employment purposes, specifically for research and development, laboratories and high tech uses as designated by ‘saved’ Local Plan Policy EMP2

DPP lead on pre-application discussion with the LPA, organised and attended a public exhibition and prepared planning & heritage statements which assessed the development against Durham City World Heritage Site, Conservation Area, Listed Buildings, Ancient Monuments and Non-designated Heritage Assets.

The application was approved and work began on site in 2018
