Project Description

Mixed-used residential led development

Land at Bartle, Preston

The Bartle scheme is a major mixed-use, residential-led development located in north-west Preston comprising of 1,100 dwellings and the provision of a new highway and roundabout junction with the Preston Western Distributor Road, which links the A583 and the M55 providing valuable connectivity within the wider North-West Preston Masterplan area.

Originally appointed by the landowner to advise on planning strategy options, DPP made representations about the Preston Western Distributor Road (PWDR), promoted the site through the development plan process and facilitated the link between the landowner and the developer, Robertson Strategic Asset Management.

DPP played a major role in facilitating strategic discussions with key parties such as Lancashire County Council, Preston City Council and statutory consultees seeking agreement of the site as a suitable location for a new sustainable community, and subsequently progressed a major hybrid planning application through to determination.

Achievements

DPP worked with the  Robertson Strategic Asset Management. to promote the site through the Preston Local Plan process for several years, culminating in the preparation and submission of a hybrid planning application for the scheme, with the application being approved at Planning Committee despite not yet being an allocation in the Local Plan.
