Project Description
Brownfield Redevelopment
Value
£40m
Bagot Street, Birmingham
A significant brownfield redevelopment scheme in Birmingham’s City Centre, this scheme involved the redevelopment of a warehouse into a 656-student accommodation site, arranged over two buildings 8 and 17 storeys high respectively.
A joint-venture application between Bagot Street Limited Partnership and Cosmopolitan Student Homes, our negotiation focused on the chance to provide a landmark building on the NorthEastern approach to the City centre, and the scheme was agreed in principle with the City Council prior to planning permission being submitted.
Working alongside the architects, DPP provided strategic planning advice on the scheme and successfully secured planning permission within the 13-week target, including negotiation of legal agreements and conditions. Furthermore, we negotiated significantly reduced and deferred payments for the client within S106 legal agreement in light of the economic climate at the time.
