On behalf of Arlington Real Estate, DPP Planning has secured unanimous planning approval for a 126-acre employment development in Cramlington, Northumberland.

The approval comes after a recommendation for approval by the Local Planning Authority ahead of committee. No objections were made by statutory consultees, and the scheme received strong overall support.

It’s estimated that the West Hartford Park development could help to generate over £150 million of investment into the North East economy, alongside the creation of 2,000 jobs. The site, which is located minutes away from the Port of Blyth, will include flexible industrial and manufacturing units, as well as office space.

The units range in size from 40,000 sq ft to 532,000 sq ft, meaning the scheme could accommodate more than 1 million sq ft of industrial, manufacturing and logistics space. This makes it the largest remaining strategic employment allocation in Northumberland.

The scheme was brought forward in partnership with Homes England, which owns the site, and the Port of Blyth, which collaborated on the plans, as the scheme has been strategically located to support the Energy Central partnership.

The site aims to help drive continued interest and investment in Northumberland’s rapidly expanding offshore renewable energy opportunities. It is also in the vicinity of the £10 billion QTS AI campus, making it perfectly positioned for businesses aiming to invest in this area.

Kayleigh Dixon, Director at DPP Planning, said: “We are delighted to have helped Arlington Real Estate in securing planning permission for its West Hartford Park development. The site is going to provide a real boost for the local economy, generating thousands of job opportunities and providing a platform for businesses to invest in the region’s offshore renewable energy schemes, among other projects.”
