Project Description

Three College Blocks

DPP were instructed by Bowmer + Kirkland (on behalf of the Department for Education and Education Partnership North East) to prepare, submit and manage a full planning application for the development of three college blocks including external workshops, an energy centre and PV canopies, as well as associated hardstanding, parking, access and landscape works including the creation of a MUGA and football pitch at Land at Wansbeck Business Park, Rotary Way, Ashington, Northumberland.

The proposal will have the capacity to cater for 3,075 learners, including SEN students and will provide modern teaching facilities to contribute towards the overall improvement in the College’s operational performance which will ultimately benefit the quality of education for existing and future students.

Achievements

DPP successfully prepared and coordinated a public consultation event to allow nearby residents and local councillors to find out more about the scheme and ask the client team any questions. DPP subsequently prepared a Statement of Community Involvement, summarising the consultation and the comments received.

DPP then prepared a Planning and Heritage Statement which assessed the scheme against relevant planning policies, and submitted the planning application.
