In Education, Permission secured

Working with Wiltshire Council, DPP are proud to have secured planning permission for the development of a new primary school in Melksham.

Designed by AWW Architects, the development will provide a new 1FE educational facility, alongside nursery facilities and SEN provision, a new grass pitch areas and soft and hard landscaping works.

The new teaching facility has been designed to ensure that it is Net Zero Carbon in Operation, through the use of sustainable measures, such as roof mounted photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps. Specific consideration has been made in relation to glazing and materials, with a fabric first approach to ensure the reduction of carbon emissions.

DPP provided key strategic advice through the preparation and submission of the Reserved Matters application. The constraints of the site, which included safe pedestrian access points, highways impact and design were all successfully addressed through the application process which enabled a unanimous approval at planning committee.

Speaking about the consent, Emma Grant, Planner at DPP said:

We are pleased to have worked with Wiltshire Council to secure this consent. Not only will it be Net Zero Carbon in operation, it will help to meet the demand for new educational facilities in Wiltshire.
