Helen is a planning consultant who specialises in major residential projects, commercial projects and mixed-used redevelopment proposals. Before joining DPP in 2022, Helen worked for commercial property agents in the North East and London.

Given her experience, Helen is practised in preparing commercially astute planning applications. Clients enjoy working with Helen because she understands issues relating development and  investment, and has experience of negotiating complex projects with local planning authorities.

Throughout her career, Helen has worked all over the UK, including Scotland, the North East of England, and Yorkshire. As each region has its own nuances and demands when it comes to the planning landscape, Helen has a unique adaptability. She prepares and negotiates applications that balance commerciality with the strategic aims and environmental concerns of the local authority. With considerate negotiating skills, she has been successful in various planning appeals.

Helen has secured planning applications for notable projects, such as the Saint James’s car park site; for a mixed used development including office space, a hotel, and built-to-rent accommodation next to St James’ Park (Newcastle United’s football stadium). Helen project managed multi-disciplinary teams, conducted consultations, and prepared successful planning applications to achieve the project on time.

With the breadth and depth of her experience, Helen gives advice that is focused on the commercial viability of proposed schemes, informed by development appraisals and viability assessments.
