DPP has secured planning permission on behalf of Octopi Property Ltd, for the redevelopment of Cliffemount Hotel to provide a sustainable, landmark 3-storey hotel and community facility including a pub and restaurant at Runswick Bay, located in the North York Moors National Park.
The proposal will see the demolition of a currently derelict hotel, and its replacement UK’s first Passivhaus hotel. Designed by Bowman Riley, the new building will contribute greatly to the character of Runswick Bay whilst supporting the local community with new jobs and investment and providing a place to visit and meet.
The proposals received overwhelming support from the local community throughout the application process, following positive pre-application discussions and consultation with local residents and businesses.
As part of the project, DPP co-ordinated pre-application discussions with the Park Authority and consultation with the wider community before carefully managing the planning process, including preparation and submission of the application. In securing the consent DPP worked closely with the Bowman Riley Architects, Silverstone Building Consultancy and the wider consultant team.
