Project Description
New teaching block
ST BENEDICT CATHOLIC VOLUNTARY ACADEMY, DERBY
On behalf of the Algeco UK Ltd, who themselves were working on behalf of St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust, DPP have secured delegated planning consent for a new teaching block comprising 12 specialist science classrooms, with two preparation rooms, and replacement and extension of existing outdoor PE space at St Benedict Voluntary Academy, Derby.
The new teaching block will provide much needed modern and purpose-built science facilities as well as facilitate the temporary increase in pupils due to the expected 2024 and 2025 intakes.
Achievements
DPP successfully negotiated with the LPA on key material planning concerns, and through positive pre-application meetings and public consultation enabled a delegated decision without the need to go to planning committee.
Sport England were also consulted prior to the submission, with the intention to engage early within the process and avoid any issues later within the determination process. This allowed for a no-objection response from Sport England shortly after the application was submitted and avoidance of any delays.
Furthermore, DPP were tasked with securing consent with minimal pre-commencement conditions to allow for a swift start on site due to the fixed timeline for the increase in pupil numbers. This was achieved through positive engagement and a proactive approach which involved direct discussions with consultees and negotiating the wording of conditions.
