In Education, Leeds

Working with Leeds City Council, DPP are proud to have secured planning permission for a new three storey teaching block at Park Lane Campus in Leeds.

Designed by DB3 Architecture, the development will provide 254 additional places for 16 and 17 year old students in Leeds, offering a range of sports science courses. It will feature a variety of soft and hard landscaping works alongside dedicated cycle and car parking.

DPP provided key strategic advice throughout the planning process, from initial preparation, submission through to the consultation period and ultimately securing a delegated decision. Working closely with Leeds City Council and the design team, DPP addressed a number of considerations such as achieving a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain, heritage, trees, pedestrian connectivity between the site and wider campus, design and materials, residential amenity, landscaping and highways improvements. DPP also assisted in negotiations on the requested S.106 obligations. DPP are now managing the discharge of condition process and are assisting the appointed contractor, McAvoys, deliver the scheme.

Speaking about the consent, David Smith, Director at DPP said:

We are delighted to have worked with DB3 Architecture, Luminate Education and the wider design team to secure planning permission for this project. The development will deliver significant educational benefits for the city and provide a modern, high quality facility to meet the needs of students in the area.  Despite the site’s constraints and the challenges this presented, our team worked diligently throughout the planning process to address and resolve all planning issues. We look forward to the project’s completion over the coming months.
