New schools

On behalf of Morgan Sindall Construction, DPP have been instructed to provide planning services in respect to the demolition of the existing Intergrid blocks and construction of a replacement school building, construction of additional toilet facilities, and the refurbishment of the existing plant, water tank and substation block at Newhouse Academy, Newhouse Road, Heywood, Rochdale.

The partial demolition and rebuild will facilitate the school becoming a 7 Form Entry (FE) secondary school for 1,050 pupils. The proposed replacement building will be roughly ‘L’ shaped and 2.5 to 3-stories in height. The redevelopment of the site will also see the creation of a new area of sports pitch and the relocation of the hard sports court.

Achievements

DPP provided pre-application advice and prepared, submitted and managed a pre-application enquiry to the Local Planning Authority (LPA). A meeting was also held with the LPA to discuss the proposals at pre-application stage. Alongside, this DPP coordinated a public consultation programme ahead of the planning application submission.

DPP prepared and coordinated the planning application pack in liaison with the consultant team, which included DPP preparing a Planning Statement, Playing Fields Assessment and Statement of Community Involvement. Through active engagement with the LPA, we managed the application to decision and it was approved. DPP have been retained to discharge the conditions tied to the planning permission and to deal with any amendments to the approved scheme.
