Single Living accommodation block at MOD Stafford.

DPP were approached by existing client, Algeco UK Ltd to assist in the discharge of conditions attached to an existing consent for a new near-zero carbon Single Living accommodation block at MOD Stafford.

We reviewed the conditions and filtered them to the correct timescales to prepare an appropriate strategy to discharge the attached conditions, to enable the client to make a timely and lawful start on site.

Minor design changes were made to the scheme to accommodate the proposed occupiers of the site within the post-determination period. These included, the removal of Rain Water Pipes, changes in surface finish to enable a more seamless entrance to the building and an increase in hard landscaped area. DPP were able to consult and agree with the Local Authority that the changes could be made by way of a Non Material Amendment (NMA) applications. This allowed a 28 determination time and would not materially impact the programme.

Achievements

DPP’s previous work with Stafford Borough council meant that informal pre-application communication was an option prior to the applications being submitted to establish the best and most efficient strategy for the client to implement the development. The Single Living accommodation which includes 75 en suite rooms is now operational in supporting accommodating the Junior Ranks in the British Army.
