On behalf of Waverley Borough Council, DPP has secured planning permission for the construction of a replacement leisure centre in Cranleigh.
Designed by GT3 Architects, the PassivHaus replacement leisure centre in Cranleigh will provide updated facilities for a six lane (25m) swimming pool, a large gym, multi-purpose studios, a spin studio, a children’s soft play area, a café, and accessible changing rooms.
The development will replace the outdated leisure centre facilities on the site and will significantly enhance the leisure and sporting provision in Cranleigh. The phasing will allow the existing leisure to remain open whilst the new centre is being built, with a planned opening in Spring 2027.
DPP worked closely with the design team and the LPA at pre-application stage and throughout the determination period to ensure that all technical matters, such as heritage constraints, flooding and parking issues, were dealt with in a timely manner.
Speaking about securing the unanimous approval, Principal Planner at DPP, Lee Fulcher said:
We are delighted to have secured permission, on behalf of Waverley Borough Council, for this transformative development in Cranleigh. After a lot of work by the design team and client at pre-application and consultation stage, this Passivhaus leisure centre will replace an ageing facility and secure leisure facilities in the village for decades to come.
