DPP are delighted to be part of the current public consultation for the Hull KR sports village regeneration ahead of the submission of a planning application next month.
Members of the public are invited to provide their thoughts and comments on the proposals for the regeneration of land adjacent to Hull KR’s Craven Park stadium until 28th March.
This once in a lifetime scheme will see the creation of new sporting facilities to create a sports village for the club and the community including a gym, new playing pitches, a padel centre, refurbishments to the Waudby Leisure Centre and a fan zone. Alongside this will be new employment and retail opportunities such as a new supermarket, homewares store, and smaller business and retail units. The masterplan is for all of this to be set in completely new public realm to help with the matchday experience and provide a new gateway to Craven Park. The plans would contribute significantly to the wider rejuvenation efforts ongoing across East Hull by Hull City Council and aim to bring direct benefit to local communities.
The proposals also include new offices and meeting space for The Hull KR Foundation which will operate and manage the community facilities of the Waudby Centre and playing pitch, as well as provide a base for their ongoing work in the community.
Responses to the public consultation and further details of the plans can be found on Hull KR’s website or via https://cravenparkregeneration.co.uk/. The plans reflect years of collaboration and iterations of the masterplan to get the most out of the site for the club and the community. The project team of DPP, Corstorphine & Wright, Warwick Smither Consulting, Sewell Advisory, Shaw Stephens, and Design Active Ltd are all working hard to finalise matters following the consultation period and submit an application at the end of April. Subject to planning, a start on site could occur in early 2026, with completion due in 2027.
Set to enhance the area with new community facilities and amenities, our proposals aim to transform the area with new sports and leisure facilities, large-scale retail outlets and commercial units – with green spaces interwoven throughout – as an investment into health and wellbeing for local people, while future-proofing the Club’s ambitions of growth.
