Project Description
Greenfield School Site
Value
£25m
MERCIA ACADEMY, SHEFFIELD
Working on behalf of Sheffield City Council, DPP co-ordinated the submission of a Full application for a new Secondary School in south-west Sheffield.
The scheme comprises a greenfield site; partially playing fields and partially urban green-space, and development of the project was extremely controversial as a large amount of well-organised public opposition was received to the scheme.
We provided strategic advice and attended pre-application meetings with the Council, during which extensive discussions regarding the design and appearance of the building were held. DPP organised and attended the community consultation event and our Planning Statement included a comprehensive assessment of the scheme against relevant policies relating to loss of green space, loss of playing fields, air quality issues, contaminated land issues and traffic generation.
