Bowmer & Kirkland
Lambeth Borough Council
City Centre Schools Redevelopment
Brixton Hill Education Campus
Bowmer & Kirkland had been appointed by the EFA to deliver three new educational facilities on a 0.9ha site West of Brixton Hill, Lambeth.
Designed by award-winning architects Jestico + Whiles, the scheme will create new facilities for Lambeth College, Trinity Academy and the new South Bank Engineering UTC in Brixton. These new facilities will total 13,869sqm and will replace the set of 1950s and 1960s buildings currently occupied by Lambeth
College and Trinity Academy School.
In addition to the facilities in the main educational buildings both Trinity Academy and the new UTC will utilise the current sports hall and Multi Use Games Area (MUGA). The sports hall will also be available to community groups and organisations outside of school core time during evenings, weekends and holiday periods.
DPP were appointed to conduct pre-application discussions with all the relevant consultees, including Local residents, Historic England and Transport for London, and ensured that the proposal met and complied with local and strategic planning policy, in addition to The National Planning Policy Framework.
DPP also prepared the relevant planning documents and submitted the application to London Borough of Lambeth.
Consent was secured at Committee in early 2016.
