Exciting plans have been submitted by DPP’s Cardiff office, for the development of 79 new high-quality residential apartments and small-scale commercial office space at the site of Globe House within the Old Market area of Bristol.
The centrally located site is within walking distance of the city centre and existing transport connections, and the development will largely be car-free with a small number of disabled parking and visitor spaces provided, tying in well with the City’s vision to improve air quality and promote healthier living. The development proposal is centred around a proposed landscaped courtyard that will improve the look and feel of the area and will provide a secure space to meet and socialise.
The design cleverly integrates the old with new, and sensitively incorporates the character of the existing building, through the retention of the existing red-brick façade but building upon this with the new development of an appropriate scale to ensure this important site lives its next chapter providing much-needed new homes to serve Bristol’s city centre.
