In Leeds, Permission secured, Residential

We are delighted to have supported our client, Hotham Park Developments, in securing approval from East Ridings of Yorkshire Council for an outline application for up to 40 new homes in Market Weighton.

This is particularly noteworthy as it was approved remotely. It demonstrates the willingness of proactive local authorities to embrace new ways of working during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure a pipeline of projects are in place after the emergency situation subsides.

Originally scheduled to be considered at a standard planning committee meeting, the decision was taken by teleconference with full delegation to the head of service in collaboration with the committee’s chair.

Commenting on the approval, Director Mark Lane said: “This is a great example of how the planning system and local authorities are adapting to maintain continuity and ensure there is not a backlog of applications and subsequently less sites being developed in the near future. East Ridings of Yorkshire Council deserve praise for employing this approach, which we believe should be uniform across the UK during the coronavirus emergency.”
