In Leeds, Mixed-Use Regeneration, Permission secured

On behalf of Ailsa3 Developments Ltd, DPP Leeds have secured full planning permission for a mixed-use commercial development in Sunderland.

The scheme, which includes KFC and Burger King drive-thru restaurants, underwent extensive pre-application discussions with the LPA. Several planning matters had to be overcome, including highways issues, provision of a detailed landscaping scheme, and the need to demonstrate that the proposals would accord with national retail planning policy and an emerging Local Plan which was at a very advanced stage.

DPP successfully demonstrated that the development was acceptable, with no sequentially preferable sites within the catchment area; DPP also demonstrated that there would be no significant impact on the nearby local centres.

“We are very happy to see this application for a mixed-use development be approved. We’ve worked collaboratively with the Council and our client to result in a scheme that is suitable for this prominent location, and will provide numerous social, economic and environmental benefits in the area”.
