Welcome to the public consultation website for a proposed development comprising a two-storey extension to the existing school and the installation of a new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) at Glossopdale School.
We will shortly be submitting a planning application to Derbyshire County Council for this scheme, and we are providing you with the opportunity to view and comment on the scheme in advance of this submission. We are submitting this application on behalf of Henry Brothers, who are developing the scheme.
A public consultation event had been organised in respect of this development, but this has unfortunately had to be cancelled in light of Government advice regarding the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. As such, we ask for you to provide your views and comments on the proposals by email and/or telephone. The plans are available for view and download below.
In summary, the proposed development seeks the erection of a two-storey extension to the existing school and the installation of a new three-court Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). The new extension will be located to the south-west of the existing school building and will be in the form of a two-storey classroom block comprising classrooms, WC’s and storage rooms, providing capacity for 200 school places. The building will be connected to the main school by an overhead canopy, ensuring all-weather accessibility between the existing school and the new building. Step-free access will also be provided. The new three-court MUGA will replace existing soft play and football fields and will provide a more versatile option which is better suited to the school’s needs.
The wider school development was designed and built with future expansion in mind, and as such the existing facilities, car park and access were designed with sufficient capacity for an increase in school places. The proposed development will not impact the function of the school, which will remain in operation throughout the construction period. The site access is proposed from Newshaw Lane via the main school access, as existing.
