DPPs Leeds office has secured planning permission for a 10 classroom teaching block at Steyning Grammar School in West Sussex, part of the Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP)2.
The new teaching block is of modular, off-site construction, and is the sixth planning consent secured for client, Eco Modular and the Department of Education in the past 18 months, with a further 3 expected before the end of 2019.
Constrained by a number of trees, nearby residential properties, and also situated adjacent to the South Downs National Park, the team advised Eco Modular on the most appropriate location for the new teaching block, in order to reduce planning risk and ensure the project remained on programme. Following submission of the application, DPP liaised with the LPA on several matters including landscape and construction phasing and successfully delivered planning permission with no pre-commencement conditions in under 8 weeks.
Modular construction presents a number of planning constraints and opportunities and DPP is delighted to have assisted Eco Modular in delivering 10 new classrooms for the staff and 1,700 pupils at Steyning Grammar.
