In Consultation

Working on behalf of Kirkminster Engineering Ltd, DPP have been successful in securing outline planning permission for 25 new homes 16.5km east of Harrogate.

The site is currently in employment use and planning consent has been refused previously by Harrogate District Council for its expansion.

DPP demonstrated that the site was no longer suitable for industrial use due to noise and disturbance and that the existing buildings are in a poor state of repair and are no longer fit for purpose.

Furthermore, DPP highlighted that the loss of an employment site did not contravene the NPPF as there were no clear economic reasons for the retention of the buildings.

DPP successfully argued that the harm, if any, which would result from the loss of employment land was outweighed by the benefits including the contribution to support the council’s target of 621 additional homes a year.
