Project Description

Neighbourhood Shopping Centre

Value

£12m

Snowhill Shopping Centre, Wakefield

DPP sought full planning permission for a new neighbourhood shopping centre in Wakefield. The scheme involved a discount retailer, 7 new smaller retail units, a coffee shop, and a family pub/restaurant along with associated parking and landscaping.
There were several other competing proposals for alternative retail developments in the local area and as such the proposed scheme was highly contentious. DPP recommended to our client that we lead an experienced technical team through the planning process including pre-application discussions and post-submission negotiations with officers of the Council.
DPP successfully represented the client at planning committee where our strategic advice was essential in ensuring a positive decision in March 2015.
The development has now been built and is occupied by Aldi, The Pet Store, The Food Warehouse, Costa, McDonalds, Greggs and Subway
